| As you should know from reading my last post the Trojan war was fought over a woman. Throughout ancient history wars were fought over women. People are probably thinking "why?". The simple reason is because kings wanted wives. In the Trojan War Helen was stolen, then when her home town went to get her back the people that took her they refused. Today we would think it is silly to fight over love because we have bigger problems and it is not worth murdering innocent people to get a lover back or to get a wife. Back in the time of Ancient Greece, Kings just wanted to have their bloodline carried on and their legacy to live in their offspring. But the kings needed women to produce these offspring. The kings that stole women wanted women to fit their description of pretty because they wanted their offspring to look good and they wanted the women to flatter them. Another reason for a war to take place over a woman is a prince might want to marry a king's daughter but does not receive permission from the king, so he will send for his army to take the princess. I do not think that people should have fought wars over women. I think that women should be able to choose who to marry instead of having a war where blood is shed and lives are taken for nothing. |
